Twitter is not bringing any self-branded smartphones according to Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter. He shared his views during a keynote speech at Mobile World Congress(MWC).
In spite of the fact that 40 percent of the overall tweets come from mobile phones, Twitter won’t be coming up with its own mobiles. This is in sharp contrast to the probable launches of ‘facebook phones‘ by INQ and HTC.
Android phones, currently allow users to share the pictures immediately after taking snaps, with fellow twitters and followers. According to Costolo, there needs to be simpler and deeper methods in other platforms too which can allow users to tweet directly without going to other applications.
Twitter at present processes 130 million tweets everyday, including spikes for events such as TV shows or major protests, when compared to 100 million few months ago, according to Costolo.
Twitter was started as a mobile service to allow people to share short messages with a group of followers by using the short code 40404. The popularity of it grew after it expanded as a web-based service.
